A personal story about growing up with screens — and building something better.
I was born in 1977 into a world where the news was always on. My dad was a TV anchorman, which meant I grew up surrounded by real stories — the kind that showed both the beauty and the tragedy of humanity.
Some of my earliest memories involve witnessing difficult moments through screens. As a child, I watched live coverage of events that no one could have predicted or shielded us from. Like many people of my generation, I saw global tragedies unfold in real time, long before there were content warnings or ways to filter what we experienced.
Back then, we had no choice but to watch.
Fast forward to the social media era — a time when disturbing content doesn't just appear on national television; it appears unexpectedly in our personal feeds.
One day, I opened my feed and was confronted with deeply graphic footage I had never chosen to see. It shook me. And it made me realize something important:
Technology had advanced in every direction — except in protecting people's emotional and mental space.
That was the moment CleoSocial began.
CleoSocial was built on a simple belief: people deserve control over what enters their minds. You should be able to stay informed without being traumatized. You should be able to connect without fear of what might appear next.
We don't exist to hide the world's reality. We exist to give people choice — to create a social experience where you can decide how you engage with content.
Because connection should empower you, not overwhelm you.
Every post is rated. You set the threshold. Your feed respects your boundaries — always.
No hidden algorithms. No dark patterns. We tell you exactly how CleoSocial works and why.
Users shape content standards together. The community has a voice — not just the platform.
Join a community that believes social media should work for you — not against you.
