Community Guidelines

How we rate content, what's never allowed, and how you can shape your own feed.

Last updated: July 31, 2026

1. Our Approach

CleoSocial is built around content clarity, not blanket bans. Instead of a single "allowed or not" line, every post is rated using the same tiers movies use — G, PG, PG-13, R — so you know what you're about to see before you see it. Ratings are applied automatically by AI when you post, and you can suggest a different rating if you think something was misclassified.

Beyond ratings, a small set of things are never allowed on CleoSocial regardless of context, described in Section 3 below.

2. Content Rating Tiers

Ratings follow the same standards as MPAA film ratings. Context matters as much as content — a family at the beach in swimwear is G, not R; a fashion editorial showing skin is PG-13, not R.

  • G — General audiences. Family photos, landscapes, food, pets, art, memes, swimwear, fitness, religious and political imagery, benign humor, breastfeeding, infant bathing.
  • PG — Parental guidance. Mild language, brief mild violence (slapstick), brief kissing, brief tobacco/alcohol imagery.
  • PG-13 — Parents strongly cautioned. Sustained sensuality or suggestive content without visible nudity (fashion, dance, artistic photography), moderate action-movie-level violence, brief drug references, one use of strong profanity outside a sexual context.
  • R — Restricted, the maximum rating. Visible nudity, depicted or clearly simulated sex acts, graphic violence or gore, on-screen illegal drug use, content designed to arouse, or repeated harsh profanity. Visible nudity is rated R even in a medical, surgical, or educational context — the framing doesn't lower the rating, only breastfeeding and infant bathing are exempt.

You control what you see: your content preference sets the maximum rating shown in your feed, and separate filters let you additionally opt out of political, religious, violent, or sexual content regardless of rating.

3. Never Allowed

Zero tolerance — no context excuses these.

Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form results in immediate, permanent account termination, preservation of evidence, and a report to NCMEC and law enforcement. See our Child Safety Standards for full detail.

The following are removed and enforced regardless of rating, caption, or framing:

  • Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), or content that sexualizes, solicits, or exploits a minor
  • Terrorism or violent extremism, and credible threats of violence
  • Sale or trafficking of illegal drugs, weapons, or human beings
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery ("revenge porn")
  • Content that otherwise depicts, promotes, or facilitates a clearly criminal act

News reporting, documentary, educational, fictional, or artistic depictions that don't themselves promote or facilitate the activity are not flagged under this section — see the context rules in Section 2.

4. Prohibited Conduct

Separate from content ratings, you agree not to:

  • Harass, bully, stalk, or intimidate other users
  • Post hate speech or content that promotes discrimination against a protected group
  • Impersonate another person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Post spam, unsolicited promotions, or engagement bait
  • Create multiple accounts for deceptive or abusive purposes
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated means to interact with the Service without permission
  • Attempt to circumvent our content rating or moderation systems

5. Shaping Your Own Feed

CleoSocial's feed responds to explicit signals you give it, not just what you engage with. From any post's menu you can tap "See more like this" or "See less like this" to teach the feed your preferences by creator, topic, and rating — this is reversible at any time by tapping the same option again. You can also review and adjust your content rating ceiling and category filters (political, religious, violence, sexual content) at any time in Settings → Content & Privacy.

6. Enforcement & Appeals

Every post is screened by automated AI analysis at the time it's published, backed by human review for flagged or reported content. Enforcement scales with severity: a misrated post is simply re-rated, repeated or more serious violations can result in content removal, and severe or repeated violations can result in account suspension or permanent termination.

If you believe a rating or moderation decision was made in error, you can appeal it directly from the post, or by contacting support@cleosocial.app. We review appeals through the same reviewer workflow used for reports.

7. Reporting Content

Every post, comment, and profile has a report option. Reports are routed to our reviewer queue and are never visible to the person you reported. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first — reporting to us is not a substitute for that.

8. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Guidelines as our policies and moderation systems evolve. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. These Guidelines work alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
